Vivian Silole Malih

Vivian Silole Malih (27) is an Ilaikipiak Maasai born and raised in Laikipia North, Kenya. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Conservation and Natural Resource Management from the University of Nairobi, where she is also pursuing her MSc. in Rangeland management.

Currently, she is working at IMPACT Kenya, an indigenous-led NGO in Northern Kenya, undertaking roles as a Program Manager – Inclusive Conservation Initiative, an initiative that seeks to change the narrative around conservation into people, culture and traditional knowledge systems-centered conservation grounded by right-based approaches; enabling indigenous communities attain recognition for their contribution to biodiversity. Previously, her role was a Program Coordinator for Gender and Natural Resources Management to ensure all of IMPACT’s work is aligned with its Gender Policy and at the grassroots level and to ensure IMPACT’s initiatives contribute to the self-strengthening and inclusion processes of indigenous women.

Vivian has an unwavering passion for community-led initiatives promoting social justice and sustainable development, especially among indigenous peoples. She is driven by a strong sense of fairness and the conviction that every individual/community deserve respect, equal rights, and access to equal opportunities. She aspires to be a catalyst for transformative change, working alongside indigenous peoples to build a more just, inclusive, and sustainable future for all.
