Mojisola Adewumi

Mojisola is a social change maker; a gender and land advocate with over ten years of leadership experience in the humanitarian sector. She is passionate about innovative research on gender, advocating for women empowerment and implementing events in Sustainable Development Goals. She has been engaging stakeholders for effective planning, pilot study, implementation, evaluation and review of policy, programs and projects that focus on empowering underserved communities and cities. She is committed to promoting education for under-served people with life-changing digital, and business skills, as well as teaching self-actualization skills and confidence building workshops in communities and cities comprising of women, youths and the informal sector.

Mojisola is an alumnus of University of Twente (ITC) The Netherlands, Vedica Scholar for Women Leadership India, Pan Atlantic University (EDC) Nigeria, Solve Business School France, and Adekunle Ajasin University Nigeria. She started her career as a Geologist with Shell Petroleum and Development Company Nigeria. As a change maker, she has been privileged to receive several national and international awards with opportunity to attend international leadership trainings and conferences. Among other great achievements, she had been invited to speak at the World Bank Conference with focus on land and poverty, Transparency International African Land Program, World Youth Forum, YALI Network among others. Her organization was selected as a partners’ representatives among other ten partners youth-led organization around the world for the Meta-University 2021 an initiative of the North South Centre of the Council of Europe to facilitating an online workshop which focus on: Interregional youth cooperation for the UN Sustainable Development Goals and Youth, Peace and Security agenda and contribute to the dialogue about the impact of the current digitalization on the youth sector also serves as a panelist in a round table discussion for DHL global sustainable development agenda 2021.

Mojisola initiatives has received award from Thomson Reuters Foundation London- For support on human rights, Federal Government of Nigeria Grant Award on Youth Enterprise with Innovations and UN SDG16 Innovation Challenge Award – Canadian Embassy/Accountability Lab. Mojisola is an ambassador to several international organizations, like World Literacy Foundation, World Pulse International, and Global Peace Chain and serves on many international Advisory Boards including Global learning Trust, Fairmount Royal Group Of Companies, Living, Learning and Working Incorporations and Country representatives of International Youth Federation. She is a Fellow-The Global Program for Women Leadership ORF India/DFID UK Government, Netherlands Education group and Transparency International-African Youth tackling land corruption. Other awards include Global Affairs Canada Scholarship Award, Cherrie Blair foundation Scholarship for Women, Women Ambassador Forum scholarship, The Pollination Project seed grant award and Netherlands Fellowship Program. She recently participated as a Country Delegate-World Bank Youth Summit 2021, Digital Right Academy and Arab and African Youth Conference and listed as a Mentor/Alumni, United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network-Global Schools Advocates (UNSDSN) and YouthLead in which the purpose of the mentorship program is to help create and facilitate communities across group of mentees. Particularly, brainstorming teaching ideas for local context as well as helping them think of creative ways to take their advocacy work forward as a springboard into further, prestigious opportunities and projects.

Mojisola is the founder and creative Director of “Royal Empowerment Foundation)’’. An NGO whose aim is to educate, empower and inspire women and young people to lead social change in their communities. Specifically, REF is committed to educating young people, serving marginalized women, vulnerable girls, including displaced women and internally displaced person (IDPs) at both the grassroots and community based. REF provide insights on the situation of rural poor women concerning sexual and gender based violence, inequitable access to land, and severe deprivation of basic human needs as well as its impact on their livelihood. REF engage them through advocacy, entrepreneurship, medical and/or financial assistance, technical training and job creation to enable them to have sustainable businesses and overcome poverty. Mojisola ultimate goal is helping to enhance the prosperity of rural community women and young people by increasing their accessibility to all livelihood options. This includes their education, social, economic and political empowerment. Presently, one of her initiatives is addressing an important issues through providing education and developing opportunities for rural community women and young people. She have taken on duties such as project facilitation and curriculum development for digital Education with aim to develop an offline/online hardware with inbuilt financial, technical, business and job training skills applications that would help them realize their potential and develop capabilities to achieve success.

Mojisola has demonstrated a strong aptitude in problem solving, research and mentoring. These experiences have prepared her to achieve many accomplishments and become active in research works which prompt actions in her country. Thus, she created an innovative approach to tackling the disproportionate impact of land corruption on community women through the introduction of ”Interactive Community Panels” 3 consisting of community leaders, women leaders, youths and government representatives with technical supports of Transparency International National headquarters, the panels are informed about issues relating to women’s rights and work to enhance women’s income generation through land-related activities. Her goal is to bring strong sustainability through education, and contribute to creative and visionary initiatives in communities development that promote excellence through diversity, equity, and inclusion, which advance research on the pressing issues of our time, and keep pace with a rapidly evolving economy. Mojisola is dedicated to creating and promoting conversations across the disciplines in inclusive, innovative, and collaborative ways that can improve the lives of women and young people around the world.
