Manya Singh

Manya is a nature conservation practitioner and co-founder of Conservation Indica, a women-led feminist organisation, working to make conservation work for the most marginalised communities and eliminate the extractive production of knowledge.

Since 2017, Manya has led diverse programs on community-centred conservation in the western Himalayas and arid regions of Gujarat, India. She spent the last four years working with the pastoralists to rewild and restore their commons- Banni, Asia’s largest grasslands. Manya holds a master’s degree in Ecology and Environment Studies from Nalanda University and has a deep grounding in landscape-level work with pastoral communities.

She is committed to reshaping conservation practice by privileging local knowledge and holding power accountable. Her approach blends science, art, and politics to build more ethical, empathetic, and grounded conservation futures.

Manya also writes essays and makes art inspired by field learnings and personal reflections.
