Farai Nhekairo
Farai Nhekairo is a distinguished Zimbabwean socio-ecologist and development practitioner dedicated to finding lasting solutions for present-day anthropogenic ecosystem challenges.
With evidence-based experience in implementing human-wildlife mitigation strategies and climate–resilient projects in Zimbabwe’s major wildlife hotspots, Farai has made significant contributions to conservation efforts, ensuring that people and wildlife thrive together.
Currently, she serves as a Climate Smart Livelihoods Officer at Wildlife Conservation Action, where she leverages her expertise to develop and implement climate-resilient livelihoods programs. Previously, Farai worked as an Environmental Education and Awareness Project Assistant, planning and directing the organisation’s environmental education programs in schools and communities.
A published writer, researcher, and consultant, Farai’s work focuses on climate change, ecology, environmental and wildlife conservation, and sustainable livelihoods. She has published articles on climate justice, green economy, water resources, and human-wildlife conflict, among others.
Farai holds two master’s degrees in Disaster Risk and Livelihoods Management and Socioecological Systems and Development Practice. She has represented Zimbabwe on international forums, including the United Nations Green Livelihoods for Women and Youth in Africa. With a strong foundation in research and practice, Farai continues to drive innovative solutions for sustainable development and conservation.
