Daniel Emil Arauz Naranjo

Daniel is a field biologist, conservationist and executive director for the Rescue Center for Endangered Marine Species (CREMA) in Costa Rica.

Daniel graduated from the University of Costa Rica in 2015. Since 2017, he has managed a sea turtle monitoring program in coastal communities where he promotes environmental education, science, and sustainable fisheries practices to protect the habitat of the critically endangered hawksbill sea turtle.

In 2018, Daniel was selected as part of the first cohort of Nat Geo Photo Ark EDGE fellows, which helps young conservationists in protecting evolutionarily distinct and globally endangered species. Throughout his career, Daniel has participated in and led numerous expeditions across the Pacific Ocean of Costa Rica, Cocos Island, and Baja California.

In 2023, Daniel graduated from Cambridge University with an M.Phil in Conservation Leadership, a groundbreaking course that equips young conservationists with applied leadership and management skills crucial for effecting positive change in the conservation field.
