Cedrick Fogwan Nguedia
Cedrick is a marine scientist from Cameroon with a passion for biodiversity conservation and community-led action. His journey began with studies in oceanography and aquatic resources management, which led him to focus on the conservation of threatened marine species such as dolphins, whales and sea turtles. He currently serves as the Programme Manager at the African Marine Conservation Organisation (AMCO), where he leads projects that combine science, outreach and advocacy to protect marine and coastal ecosystems.
In this role, he coordinates a network of over 80 fishers who contribute to citizen science, oversees field surveys and beach monitoring, and engages government stakeholders to influence conservation policies. He is also involved in regional collaboration efforts to address major threats such as bycatch and habitat loss, and to promote effective marine protected area management.
He is committed to mentoring young conservationists and believes in the power of storytelling to inspire change. His work is driven by a deep respect for local knowledge and a strong belief that conservation can and should benefit both nature and people. Through the fellowship, he looks forward to growing his leadership skills and contributing to a community of passionate changemakers.
