Carlene Myvett

Carlene hails from Belize, Central America. She holds a Master of Science in Biodiversity Conservation and Sustainable Development in the Caribbean from the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine Campus. Carlene has undergraduate degrees in Biology and Literature.

Before joining the conservation field, she taught Literature for several years at the high school level. She later went on to work at the Indigenous Peoples’ Affairs Office and, for several semesters, served as an adjunct lecturer at the University of Belize, where she taught in the Natural Resources Management Program. Carlene now works as the Development Manager at Ya’axché Conservation Trust, an NGO that does biodiversity conservation, protected areas management and sustainable community livelihoods outreach in the Maya Golden Landscape of Toledo, Belize.
