The Patchwork of Belonging Series 2 at the Oxford Real Farming Conference
Working with partners in the UK and internationally, the Oxford Real Farming Conference (ORFC) brings the real food and farming movement together every January. It is an alternative farming conference which attracts farmers, growers, activists, policymakers and researchers from around the world who are interested in transforming our food system.
The Patchwork of Belonging Series 2 will be created by delegates at the ORFC, stewarded by artist and curators, Simran Rawat and Nessie Reid, with co-stewarding from GEN members Dee Woods, Randa Toko and Katie Hastings.
Instructions at the ORFC
Come and create a patch for The Patchwork of Belonging: an ongoing series of collaborative, mobile patchwork quilts which inquires what it means to find new – and rediscover old – ways to belong and find connection to land, place and the food we grow and eat.
- Take an empty patch
- Use any of the materials provided to create your patch or anything you have
- Stitch your patch next to one of the existing patches in the patchwork
You are simply asked to respond to the question: How do you find belonging?
In answering this you might also want to speak to the contexts that prevent you from belonging.
The Patchwork making sessions will take place on:
Thursday 9th January.
Town Hall, Main Hall @ 2pm — 3.30pm.
We will be patchwork-making in collaboration with the Gaia Foundations’ Seed Sovereignty Programme Seed Swap.
Friday 10th January.
Museum of Oxford, Learning Studio @ 2pm — 3.30pm.
Full details can be found in the ORFC Programme.
