EarthSeed — A Fellowship for Women Transforming Food & Farming

EarthSeed Change is our inheritance. The future is something we grow together.

Global Diversity Foundation is thrilled to announce its first Food and Farming Fellowship, designed in collaboration with Francesca Price (The Real Farming Trust) and visionary food & farming actionist Dee Woods (The African and Caribbean Heritage Food Network).

EarthSeed brings together women across the food system who are shaping new ways (and reviving old ones) of feeding, tending and belonging. Rooted in courage, imagination and collective practice, the fellowship offers a space to connect, learn from each other and gain confidence in intuitive and ancestral knowing. As the old order is dying, EarthSeed exists for those who know that a new one can be born only with justice at its heart. The fellowship is an invitation to cultivate resilient leadership, renew cultural memory, and grow futures grounded in land, reciprocity and shared power.

For its first edition (2026–2027), EarthSeed gathers a cohort of 16 self-identified women from across England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland & the Republic of Ireland, who are working at the intersections of food sovereignty, agroecology, food poverty, food policy, decolonial practices, community-building and land-based spirituality.

In an age of increasing isolation, polarising politics and ongoing racial discriminations, the need for networks of solidarity, built from mutual support, radical care and community healing are more important than ever. This reminds us that another way is possible, where we endure through relationships with one another and our living earth and not through separation.

FELLOWSHIP’S structure

The Fellowship spans six months, commencing in January 2027. We will have online sessions every-other week, and a 5-day immersive in-person Community Exchange in April 2027 in a retreat center in Devon, UK.

Selected via nomination from trusted partners, movement leaders, and community organisations we are bringing together a diverse cohort of women working across different parts of the food and farming movement. Stay tuned to learn more about them!

The core facilitation team (Dee Woods, Francesca Price, Francesca Masoero and Nessie Reid) will be joined by guest speakers to deliver the online programme of the Fellowship, while for the in-person Community Exchange, fellows are invited to co-curate the majority of the sessions.

The programming will straddle the spiritual and the practical, the political and the poetical. We will hold space for collective rituals, for rest and dreaming as ways to nurture radical imagination, and we will co-design embodied practices of deep listening and nature resonance. We will create the conditions for re-enchantment and magic to show us how to rehearse resilience and resistance, while also practicing tools and tactics to hold ground and grow movements, drawing from advocacy work, community-based arts, and more.

Fellowship’s Offerings

This Fellowship is a collaborative, imaginative and action-oriented programme for women working at the frontline of land and social justice, farming, biodiversity & land stewardship, food, health sovereignty and community wellbeing. By participating, fellows will:

  • Become part of a community of practice and be entangled in a relational infrastructure supporting your work and that of others operating in the food sovereignty and agroecology movement;
  • Be offered space to share knowledge, strategies, resources, and emotional support with fellow farmers, growers, activists, and practitioners, while also taking time, rest, and reflect;
  • Gain practical strategies and strengthen collective capacity at the level of organising, network-building and mobilising;
  • Collectively inquire in an expansive and liberated way, on the conditions needed to reinforce resilience and resistance to divisive forces, in order to strengthen food and material sovereignty, contributing to more just food systems and reparatory land practices;
  • Engage in a multifaceted learning journey, shaped by the different life paths, inquiries and methodologies of its participants.
