Carlos del Campo
Carlos del Campo (Mexico) is a humanist psychologist and environmental anthropologist. He obtained his degree in psychology from Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León (UANL), Mexico in 1997. That same year, he trained in ecopsychology through Project NatureConnect with the Institute for Global Education. From that time onward, Carlos has worked with marginalised groups, students and professionals on processes of nature therapy and meditation to connect ourselves with nature and society as human beings. In 1997, Carlos co-founded a social ecology organisation that collaborates with rural communities in southern Nuevo León to work on natural resources and community health, consulting for state parks and the wildlife commission. In 2003, he received his Masters in environmental anthropology from the University of Kent in Canterbury, UK. His MSc research in Ecuador focused on the impact of indigenous organisations on traditional agricultural knowledge.
Drawing on his passion for free software, Carlos developed an online educational portal for students studying environmental sciences at UANL in 2004, beginning a modest career in web development through institutional collaboration. Since 2007, Carlos has collaborated with Anima Mundi – Investigación y Acción Biocultural and Global Diversity Foundation (GDF) on community-based conservation support projects, training community researchers to conduct collaborative research and defend their indigenous territory in Oaxaca, Mexico.
In his role as GEN Facilitator and Digital Consultant, Carlos supports GEN’s online platforms. He also supports GEN’s regional activities in Central and South America.
