Context:

During our regular engagement and exchange with the members, we witness the incredible potential within our community. In order to support this, every year, we eagerly anticipate the launch of our call for applications for Seed Projects. The GEN Seed Project Funding represents our ongoing dedication to supporting the ideas and aspirations of our members through funding, mentoring and communication support from the GDF team and resource people.

What is a Seed project?

A Seed project is an initiative that promotes a holistic approach to environmental stewardship and community well-being by contributing to at least one of these objectives:
  • Preserve natural resources and ensure their availability for future generations.
  • Improve livelihoods by building on indigenous knowledge and community-based approaches.
  • Strengthen resilience within communities and ecosystems.
  • Preserve indigenous cultures and cultural heritage.
  • Promote collaboration between stakeholders (local communities, governments, NGOs, and researchers) and their empowerment.

Key considerations and eligibility criteria:

  • The applicant must be a GEN Member.
  • Funding of up to £4000 is available per project, as well as support through our incubation programme and from a mentor relevant to your proposal.
  • Funds need to be paid into an organisation’s bank account (not a personal bank account).
  • All applications are welcome as long as they align with the programme of work of GEN and GDF.
  • Whilst we support applicants from individuals, we’d really love to see collaborations amongst GEN members.
  • Please note that Seed Funding does not only consist of monetary support. Awardees will also be required to participate in mentoring sessions and capacity-building training.
  • A kick-off presentation and a final report including photos will be required.
